Position Description
 

 

Are you an experimental optical scientist with experience in biomedical imaging?

 

Do you want to work on a broad set of projects with a vibrant team of experimental and theoretical physicists? 

 

If so, we are looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

 

At APL, you will not only be able to collaborate with people defining the state of the art, but can also work with government to define the direction of research in the years to come!

 

As an Experimental Optical Scientist at APL you will...

•Support ongoing efforts in biomedical imaging by making immediate contributions to efforts devoted to improving imaging performance in turbid media.
•Perform independent research and cultivate new programs by identifying emerging opportunities and challenges with a focus on coherent optics applied to biomedical imaging.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

 
You meet our minimum qualifications if you...


•Have experience with Experimental Optics.
•Have a PhD in Physics, Biomedical or Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
•A Master's Degree in  Physics, Biomedical or Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field and 3+ years experience will also be considered.
•Are willing to occasionally travel to sponsor sites, conferences and workshops.
•You are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information.
•Security clearance eligibility requires you to be a U.S. citizen.

 

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...
•Have a demonstrated record of research accomplishment and publications in one or more of the following fields:
•Coherent optics (e.g. optical coherence tomography or holography),
•Biomedical imaging (especially laser speckle imaging, diffusing wave spectroscopy or optical wavefront shaping in turbid media),
•Optical characterization of materials (e.g. absorption and scattering properties, anisotropy, spectral analysis).
•Possess demonstrated experience or coursework in one or more of the following:
•Software development in a high-level programming language.
•Electronic circuit design, fabrication and testing.
