Overview

The School of Accountancy in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty position at the Lecturer rank. The 9-month faculty position salary is competitive and based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Responsibilities

The role for this position is to teach courses (normally a “4/4 load”) and participate in curriculum development at the undergraduate and masters’ level in taxation, and/or accounting information systems. Participation in satellite-based distance education and/or occasional off-campus courses. Active involvement in professional organizations and participation in School of Accountancy, Huntsman School of Business, and university functions. Serve as faculty advisor to USU’s chapter of the honorary accounting student organization, Beta Alpha Psi, at a level of quality and effort that will ensure continuation of superior chapter status (Thursday evenings, occasional Saturdays, and attendance at the annual regional and national meetings of Beta Alpha Psi). Engage in additional activities necessary to maintain professionally qualified status under AACSB standards, and assist in the process of accreditation maintenance and documentation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters’ degree from an AACSB-accredited institution required.

  • Current CPA license.

  • Recent relevant professional business work experience required, preferably in public accounting.

  • Student-friendly personality and genuine caring for students mandatory.

  • Knowledge in various accounting areas and flexibility in teaching various courses desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters’ degree in accounting or taxation preferred.

  • Teaching experience desirable but not required.

  • Beta Alpha Psi membership during college years, and particularly service as an officer or outstanding pledge of that organization, preferred.

  • Knowledge in various accounting areas and flexibility in teaching various courses desirable.
