Carroll College, an independent, Catholic, diocesan, liberal arts college is seeking a full-time Dean of Students. Reporting directly to the President, the Dean of Students and Retention provides institutional leadership for developing, delivering, evaluating and refining a cohesive and coordinated vision for student life on campus that supports and fosters a culture of excellence and quality service orientation within all areas of responsibility; improves the quality of campus life through facilitating students' holistic integration into campus life; promotes positive campus climate; works collaboratively with students, faculty, administrators, and staff to enhance student academic success and optimize the overall Carroll College student experience. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, policies, and regulations in regard to student-Accused Title IX and Discrimination, Harassment & Retaliation situations, Americans with Disabilities Act, FERPA, and crisis- response efforts as stipulated by Carroll College policies. Advocates for a student-responsive institutional focus, and advocates for students' voices in institutional shared governance. Provides strategic leadership and oversight to achieve and meet the College's retention efforts and goals.

The incumbent is expected to work some weekends and be on-call during campus closure dates. 

The successful candidate will possess:

  • progressively responsible and relevant accomplished leadership experience in collegiate student affairs and/or student life;

  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

  • leadership style and record of accomplishment in partnering with others to create co-curricular and experiential learning experiences;

  • evidence of strong commitment to a student-centered philosophy and a keen understanding of current issues confronting students and higher education;

  • personal involvement in student activities;

  • enthusiasm for working with students and promoting their development;

  • successful conflict resolution and crisis management experience;

  • significant experience facilitating change, allocating and managing resources, supervising staff.

Additionally, Carroll College is seeking candidates with proven skillful Collaboration and teamwork abilities and personal effectiveness and credibility as demonstrated by interpersonal and professional confidence. Candidates must articulate support for Carroll College's mission.
